Crosswire
Your controls are wired wrong. Keep the loop off the wire.
Crosswire is the fairground buzz-wire game with crossed controls. Steer a glowing loop along a live wire from the start post to the chequered finish line without touching it. Your hand moves the loop through a wiring that can mirror, flip, turn or swap every direction, and each gate on the wire changes it again, while a fuse burns along the wire behind you.
How to play
- Press Ready, then swipe anywhere to steer the loop around the wire; with a mouse the loop follows the pointer, or use the arrow keys.
- The wiring can mirror, flip, turn or swap your movement. Each gate shows its wiring as an icon on the wire, and the loop carries the icon of the wiring in force.
- Gates on the wire show the wiring they switch to before you reach them. Passing a gate rewires your hand.
- Touching the wire zaps the loop back onto it and stops it for a moment. A fuse burns along the wire behind you: if it reaches the loop, the run is over.
- Your score starts from the level's difficulty and adds up to 15% for few zaps and up to 15% for how much wire the fuse still had to burn when you reached the finish.
What it trains
Controlling your hand when the usual link between hand and eye is broken, and switching to a new mapping at every gate under time pressure. Explore Focus & Attention training →
Improvement figures are observed in-app score gains, backed by peer-reviewed cognitive-training research.
Difficulty
Ten levels grow from a gentle Straight wire to long, bendy wires that spread across the whole board, with eight gates, all eight wirings, a tighter loop and a faster fuse. Every wire is generated fresh.
