Dual N-Back
The research-backed working-memory trainer
Dual N-Back is the working-memory exercise made famous by cognitive-science research. Track a moving square and a spoken letter — and, as you climb, colour and shape too — flagging whenever the current stimulus matches the one from N steps back.
How to play
- Each step, take in the active channels — position, sound, and later colour and shape.
- Press a channel's button when its stimulus matches the one N steps back.
- One press per channel per step; the first N steps are a warm-up.
- Score around 80% and the game nudges you up to N+1; slip and it eases you back.
