Lasers

Bend the light. Light every target.

Lasers is a light-routing puzzle on an optical bench. Put the laser in a port on the edge, then set the tray's mirrors, splitters, prisms or fibre link on the mounts so its beam lights every coloured target at once. You can choose exactly which tools appear, or climb 61 levels that bring them in one by one. The beam carries red, green and blue side by side, a prism sends each colour its own way, and every target shows the colours it needs, so a target that needs red and green wants both to arrive on it, from one beam or two.

How to play

  1. Drag the laser into a port on the edge of the bench; it fires red, green and blue side by side straight across.
  2. Drag mirrors, splitters and prisms from the tray onto the mounts. Mirrors bounce light, splitters send it both ways, and prisms turn red to the left of the beam, let green straight through and turn blue to the right. Tap a mirror or splitter to turn it.
  3. A fibre link has two ends: light that goes into one comes out of the other, still heading the same way.
  4. A target glows when exactly the colours it needs reach it: the ring round it shows them, and a colour it must not get short-circuits it.
  5. Every piece in the tray is needed. Each piece you set down counts as a move; turning a piece, taking it back and undo are free, but none of them refunds a move.
  6. Your score starts from the level's difficulty and adds up to 15% for accuracy (moves against par) and up to 15% for speed.

Difficulty

Levels climb 61 steps, one chapter per par from 2 to 8: from one mirror, splitter or prism on a 5 x 5 bench to all four tools on 8 x 8, with bolted pieces, a fibre link and a target that needs two colours from different beams. Goal levels set a placement budget or ask for a clean solve without Undo, and the finale, The Full Spectrum, asks for all four tools at par. In Score Attack you choose exactly which tools appear and the par, up to 12 placements. Every board is generated fresh, and from par 4 up each one has exactly one solution.
